Every piece starts as flat leather on the cutting mat, measured and cut by hand, then shaped - bracers to a forearm, trays to their corners, wallets to their fold.
Color goes on by hand, from deep purples and worn-in reds to hand-painted one-offs like the sprinkle wallet. No two dyed pieces come out exactly alike.
Basketweave tooling, Celtic knots, stamped names and the Fowler compass mark are worked into the leather before assembly - along with engraving and carved personalization.
Seams are saddle-stitched with two needles and waxed thread, edges are burnished, and hardware - snaps, rivets, buckles - is set by hand before the piece is packed and shipped with care.
About the maker
Scott started Fowler Leather to share his projects - the first post, back in 2022, was a red card wallet and a simple idea: leather goods where all your ideas can come to life.
Since then the bench has turned out wallets, bracers, belts, collars, keychains, deck holders, a first mask, and plenty of one-off customs in colors most shops won't touch. If it's on this page, one pair of hands made it.
Most Fowler Leather work is made to order. If you have something in mind - a wallet in your colors, a collar for your dog, a bracer, a gift - start here.
Use the form, email, or DM on Instagram. Rough ideas are fine - a photo of something similar helps.
Leather color, thread, stamping or engraving, and sizing get settled together before anything is cut, along with price and timing.
Your piece is cut, dyed, stitched and finished at the bench, packed flat with care, and sent your way.
Fill this in and it opens a pre-written email to Fowler Leather in your own mail app - nothing is sent until you hit send there.
Handmade leather is low-maintenance - a few habits keep it looking its best for years. This is the same short note that goes in the package:
Leather and standing water don't mix. If a piece gets wet, let it air-dry slowly at room temperature - never with direct heat.
Short trips out are fine, but don't store pieces in direct sun for long stretches - it fades dye and dries the leather out.
If the leather starts looking dry or stiff, work in a small amount of leather conditioner. A little goes a long way.
